Before you render in Croydon

What changes a rendering job here, each from the council plan, heritage register or data sheet it comes from.

  1. Council

Two councils, two sets of rules

Croydon is split between Burwood Council, which covers the larger part, and Inner West. Burwood's DCP does not permit cement render of existing face brick on heritage properties; the Inner West side uses the Ashfield DCP.

  2. Heritage

    Malvern Hill Federation houses

The Malvern Hill conservation area (Burwood side) has good-quality Federation houses, and its control says unpainted brick or stone should not be painted, plastered or covered with any other material.

For your render: We check your address against these rules before quoting, so the render, finish and colour suit what the council allows there. Cement rendering

  3. Heritage

    Gads Hill (Inner West side)

Gads Hill is the Inner West part of the 1909 Malvern Hill Estate. Its statement lists cement rendering of face brick on Federation and Inter-War houses as non-contributory.

  • “Very professional and so helpful! Good communication and a fair price! Arrived nice and early! The rendering was done very well and looks great. The boys were very careful and made no mess! I have no hesitation in recommending Ali and his workers! I am definitely a very happy customer! Job: rear of house rendering plus a variety of rendering repairs in various places! Thank you so much!”
    ★★★★★Gregory Williams ·
  • “We loved dealing with Ali and his team. They are all lovely and really good renderers. We wanted something a little different (a thickly applied splattered style) in some parts of the house,”bagged” in other areas and smooth render in other parts…all was no problem, and expertly done. All fairly priced too. We would definitely recommend Finishing Touch Rendering. Stephanie and David.”
