Before you render
Before you render across the Hills District
Most of the Hills District is The Hills Shire, but several suburbs cross a council line: Castle Hill and Glenhaven into Hornsby, Rouse Hill into Blacktown, and North Rocks and Winston Hills sit mostly in the City of Parramatta. Box Hill and the Blacktown side of Rouse Hill are zoned under the State's Central River City precinct SEPP rather than a council LEP. The address decides which DCP and heritage rules apply.
In the rural west (Annangrove, Kenthurst and much of Glenhaven) The Hills DCP prefers recessive, less reflective earthy tones for buildings, and most of that land is mapped bush fire prone. That matters for polystyrene cladding: a system has to be built up to the tested BAL rating for the block, and even exempt re-rendering must be ember-sealed.
Heritage is item by item rather than whole streets. The Hills DCP says exterior face brick on heritage buildings is not to be rendered or painted, and Parramatta's DCP says the same for its listed houses in North Rocks and Winston Hills.

Council
Rural colour rule
On rural-zoned land The Hills DCP prefers recessive earthy tones that are less reflective; bright or reflective finishes need justifying.

Heritage
Face brick on heritage items
On Hills heritage items, exterior face brick walls are not to be rendered or painted.

Bush fire prone acreage
Unitex's polystyrene boards reached BAL-29 with 8 mm of base render and BAL-40 with 16.5 mm; on bush fire prone blocks the build-up has to match the site's BAL.
For your render: On bush fire prone land the render or cladding system has to suit the block's bush fire attack level (BAL), with gaps sealed against embers. Polystyrene cladding

Reviews
What our clients say
Courteous, tidy, protected the area from debris, cleaned up after and a good job
“Very professional and so helpful! Good communication and a fair price! Arrived nice and early! The rendering was done very well and looks great. The boys were very careful and made no mess! I have no hesitation in recommending Ali and his workers! I am definitely a very happy customer! Job: rear of house rendering plus a variety of rendering repairs in various places! Thank you so much!”
★★★★★Gregory Williams · “We loved dealing with Ali and his team. They are all lovely and really good renderers. We wanted something a little different (a thickly applied splattered style) in some parts of the house,”bagged” in other areas and smooth render in other parts…all was no problem, and expertly done. All fairly priced too. We would definitely recommend Finishing Touch Rendering. Stephanie and David.”
