Rendering across the Ryde area

Most Ryde-area houses sit outside heritage areas, so re-rendering is often exempt; Gladesville, Eastwood and Melrose Park straddle two councils. Cement and acrylic rendering across the Ryde area, with a free quote.

Before you render

Before you render across the Ryde area

The City of Ryde has only a handful of small heritage conservation areas, such as Tyrell Street in Gladesville, Eastwood House Estate, and Chatham Road and Darvall Estate in Denistone. Outside them, re-rendering or repainting a house that is not a listed item is usually exempt work if it meets the Codes SEPP standards. Ryde's DCP has no general heritage chapter, so listed houses are judged on their heritage impact rather than a fixed face brick rule; where a DCP part does exist, it says original brick should not be painted, bagged or rendered.

Three suburbs cross council lines. Gladesville shares its east side with Hunters Hill, whose minor works letter does not cover painting or rendering unpainted brick or sandstone. Eastwood and Melrose Park both have a Parramatta side, where the Parramatta DCP does not support rendering or painting original face brick on heritage properties.

The Parramatta River and bushland edges are the other factors. Riverside streets in Putney, Tennyson Point, Meadowbank, Melrose Park and Gladesville are within 100 m of salt water, which changes the fixings on polystyrene cladding. Macquarie Park, Marsfield, Denistone and parts of Ryde are mapped bush fire prone.

Rules and site conditions across the Ryde area

Each one from the council plan or data sheet it comes from.

  1. Heritage

    No general heritage DCP

City of Ryde DCP 2014 has no general heritage part; most heritage items and conservation areas are assessed under Ryde LEP 2014 clause 5.10. The area parts that exist (Tyrell Street, Eastwood House Estate, Coronation Avenue and Trelawney Street) all advise against painting, bagging or rendering original brick.

  2. Council

    Split suburbs

Gladesville is split with Hunters Hill, and Eastwood and Melrose Park with City of Parramatta, so the address decides which council's process and DCP apply to a re-render.

  3. Coast

    Cladding near the river

If you are adding polystyrene cladding within 100 m of the Parramatta River, Unitex requires Class 4 or 316 stainless fixings for its EPS systems.

I have no hesitation in recommending Ali and his workers! I am definitely a very happy customer! Job: rear of house rendering plus a variety of rendering repairs in various places! Thank you so much!”
    ★★★★★Gregory Williams ·
  • “We loved dealing with Ali and his team. They are all lovely and really good renderers. We wanted something a little different (a thickly applied splattered style) in some parts of the house,”bagged” in other areas and smooth render in other parts…all was no problem, and expertly done. All fairly priced too. We would definitely recommend Finishing Touch Rendering. Stephanie and David.”
