Eastwood House Estate
The Eastwood House Estate conservation area (Ryde LEP C4) is mostly double-fronted dark face brick bungalows. Ryde's DCP Part 5.2 lists painting, cement rendering or re-skinning original brick walls as things to avoid there, so expect a DA and resistance to render.

Heritage
Epping/Eastwood conservation area
On the Parramatta side, the Epping/Eastwood conservation area covers part of the suburb: single-storey brick bungalows built between 1910 and 1940. Parramatta's DCP (7.10.11, C.09) says to avoid painting, rendering or re-skinning their original brick walls.

This Ryde character area is not a heritage listing, but its DCP part says originally unpainted face brick and stonework should not be painted, bagged or rendered. It matters if your job is part of a DA, such as an addition.
