Before you render in Greenwich

What changes a rendering job here, each from the council plan, heritage register or data sheet it comes from.

  1. Heritage

    Greenwich Conservation Area

Part of Greenwich is in the Greenwich Conservation Area (Lane Cove LEP C1). Lane Cove's DCP says most significant buildings there have exposed brick walls, so exposed brick is preferred to rendered and painted walls, and heritage items should keep traditional colour schemes.

For your render: We check your address against these rules before quoting, so the render, finish and colour suit what the council allows there. Cement rendering

  2. Houses

    Victorian to Federation brick

The DCP describes Greenwich housing as ranging from mid-to-late Victorian and Federation homes to modest mid-twentieth century houses, with the older buildings predominantly brick. Re-rendering original brick on one of those is unlikely to be supported.

  3. Coast

    Foreshore upkeep

Greenwich's harbour and river foreshore streets are within 100 m of salt water. Near the harbour, render needs more upkeep: Rockcote asks for its systems to be cleaned down every 12 months, and painted or heavily textured finishes close to the coast more often. Polystyrene cladding there needs Class 4 or 316 stainless fixings under the Unitex manual.

  • “Very professional and so helpful! Good communication and a fair price! Arrived nice and early! The rendering was done very well and looks great. The boys were very careful and made no mess! I have no hesitation in recommending Ali and his workers! I am definitely a very happy customer! Job: rear of house rendering plus a variety of rendering repairs in various places! Thank you so much!”
    ★★★★★Gregory Williams ·
  • “We loved dealing with Ali and his team. They are all lovely and really good renderers. We wanted something a little different (a thickly applied splattered style) in some parts of the house,”bagged” in other areas and smooth render in other parts…all was no problem, and expertly done. All fairly priced too. We would definitely recommend Finishing Touch Rendering. Stephanie and David.”
