Before you render in Castlecrag

What changes a rendering job here, each from the council plan, heritage register or data sheet it comes from.

  1. Heritage

    Griffin conservation area

A large part of Castlecrag is in the Griffin conservation area. Unlike Willoughby's brick areas, its DCP section lists stone, render or timber walls in recessive neutral colours, and says materials and colours must blend with the local bushland.

For your render: We check your address against these rules before quoting, so the render, finish and colour suit what the council allows there. Cement rendering

  2. Bush fire

    Heavily bush fire prone

Much of Castlecrag is mapped bush fire prone. Exempt re-rendering there must be ember-sealed, and in the Griffin area the bushfire rules and the bushland colour control both shape the choice of render system.

For your render: On bush fire prone land the render or cladding system has to suit the block's bush fire attack level (BAL), with gaps sealed against embers. Polystyrene cladding

  3. Coast

    Middle Harbour upkeep

Castlecrag's Middle Harbour foreshore lots sit within 100 m of salt water, where render takes more looking after: Rockcote asks for its systems to be washed down every 12 months, and coastal painted or textured finishes more often. Polystyrene cladding near the water needs Class 4 or 316 stainless fixings under the Unitex manual.

  • “Very professional and so helpful! Good communication and a fair price! Arrived nice and early! The rendering was done very well and looks great. The boys were very careful and made no mess! I have no hesitation in recommending Ali and his workers! I am definitely a very happy customer! Job: rear of house rendering plus a variety of rendering repairs in various places! Thank you so much!”
    ★★★★★Gregory Williams ·
  • “We loved dealing with Ali and his team. They are all lovely and really good renderers. We wanted something a little different (a thickly applied splattered style) in some parts of the house,”bagged” in other areas and smooth render in other parts…all was no problem, and expertly done. All fairly priced too. We would definitely recommend Finishing Touch Rendering. Stephanie and David.”
