Before you render in Darlington

What changes a rendering job here, each from the council plan, heritage register or data sheet it comes from.

  1. Heritage

    Golden Grove and Darlington areas

Much of Darlington is in the Golden Grove heritage conservation area, and part is in the Darlington area. Existing face brick and stone walls there are not to be rendered or painted.

For your render: We check your address against these rules before quoting, so the render, finish and colour suit what the council allows there. Cement rendering

  2. Houses

    Brick and weatherboard terraces

Golden Grove is mostly two-storey late Victorian terraces, including some rare two-storey weatherboard terraces. Darlington's listing also notes weatherboard and brick cottages throughout.

  3. Heritage

    Weatherboard buildings

For weatherboard buildings in a heritage area, the DCP asks owners to keep early fabric and finishes and match replacement boards to the original profile. Rendering over weatherboards is not part of that.

  • “Very professional and so helpful! Good communication and a fair price! Arrived nice and early! The rendering was done very well and looks great. The boys were very careful and made no mess! I have no hesitation in recommending Ali and his workers! I am definitely a very happy customer! Job: rear of house rendering plus a variety of rendering repairs in various places! Thank you so much!”
    ★★★★★Gregory Williams ·
  • “We loved dealing with Ali and his team. They are all lovely and really good renderers. We wanted something a little different (a thickly applied splattered style) in some parts of the house,”bagged” in other areas and smooth render in other parts…all was no problem, and expertly done. All fairly priced too. We would definitely recommend Finishing Touch Rendering. Stephanie and David.”
