Before you render in Hornsby

What changes a rendering job here, each from the council plan, heritage register or data sheet it comes from.

  1. Heritage

    Hornsby West Side precincts

The Mount Errington, Pretoria Parade and Peats Ferry Road precincts and the Barker College area cover a small part of Hornsby. In Mount Errington, Hornsby's DCP expects red and brown face brick or weatherboard walls, with rendering or painting brick kept to small feature areas, and painting a previously unpainted surface needs consent.

For your render: We check your address against these rules before quoting, so the render, finish and colour suit what the council allows there. Cement rendering

  2. Houses

    Federation and Inter-war houses

The DCP describes Mount Errington as Federation and Inter-war houses and gardens, and Pretoria Parade as low single-storey Federation or Inter-war bungalows. On these houses the brick is the finish, so render is usually limited to the original details, matched to them rather than spread over the walls.

  3. Bush fire

    Bush fire prone land

Much of Hornsby is mapped bush fire prone, most of it Category 1 vegetation. On those lots, exempt re-rendering must be ember-sealed and EPS cladding needs a system tested to the site's BAL.

For your render: On bush fire prone land the render or cladding system has to suit the block's bush fire attack level (BAL), with gaps sealed against embers. Polystyrene cladding

  • “Very professional and so helpful! Good communication and a fair price! Arrived nice and early! The rendering was done very well and looks great. The boys were very careful and made no mess! I have no hesitation in recommending Ali and his workers! I am definitely a very happy customer! Job: rear of house rendering plus a variety of rendering repairs in various places! Thank you so much!”
    ★★★★★Gregory Williams ·
  • “We loved dealing with Ali and his team. They are all lovely and really good renderers. We wanted something a little different (a thickly applied splattered style) in some parts of the house,”bagged” in other areas and smooth render in other parts…all was no problem, and expertly done. All fairly priced too. We would definitely recommend Finishing Touch Rendering. Stephanie and David.”
