Before you render in Leichhardt

What changes a rendering job here, each from the council plan, heritage register or data sheet it comes from.

  1. Heritage

    Small conservation areas

Parts of Leichhardt are in conservation areas: Wetherill Estate, Whaleyborough Estate, Leichhardt Street/Stanley Street, Excelsior Subdivision, Scarvell Estate, Albert Street and Parramatta Road. In those, original face brick should not be painted over or rendered.

For your render: We check your address against these rules before quoting, so the render, finish and colour suit what the council allows there. Cement rendering

  2. Houses

West Leichhardt: red and brown face brick

The DCP describes West Leichhardt's houses as mainly late Victorian and Federation, built in red or brown smooth face brick or weatherboard, and asks for the brick and weatherboard cottages to be conserved.

  3. Houses

Piazza buildings: mineral paint, not acrylic

For the buildings around the commercial piazza, the DCP asks for repainting in an earthy palette using lime or cement-based paint finishes and says acrylic paints are not appropriate.

  • “Very professional and so helpful! Good communication and a fair price! Arrived nice and early! The rendering was done very well and looks great. The boys were very careful and made no mess! I have no hesitation in recommending Ali and his workers! I am definitely a very happy customer! Job: rear of house rendering plus a variety of rendering repairs in various places! Thank you so much!”
    ★★★★★Gregory Williams ·
  • “We loved dealing with Ali and his team. They are all lovely and really good renderers. We wanted something a little different (a thickly applied splattered style) in some parts of the house,”bagged” in other areas and smooth render in other parts…all was no problem, and expertly done. All fairly priced too. We would definitely recommend Finishing Touch Rendering. Stephanie and David.”
