Before you render in Avalon Beach

What changes a rendering job here, each from the council plan, heritage register or data sheet it comes from.

  1. Heritage

    Ruskin Rowe Heritage Conservation Area

The Ruskin Rowe Heritage Conservation Area (C5, Pittwater LEP 2014) covers a small part of Avalon Beach's housing land. Inside it, painting face brick facades is named as an intrusive change that will not be permitted, and re-rendering or repainting needs consent.

For your render: We check your address against these rules before quoting, so the render, finish and colour suit what the council allows there. Cement rendering

  2. Council

    Avalon's natural-finish rule

The Avalon Beach Locality control adds to the Pittwater palette: finishes 'shall be or shall appear to be natural, with subdued natural and dark coastal colours', brighter accents allowed, and dominant smooth shiny surfaces avoided.

  3. Houses

    Listed houses

Pittwater LEP 2014 lists many items in Avalon Beach, including houses, some of them of State significance. Changing the finish of a listed house needs consent; it is not exempt work.

  4. Coast

    Salt air on both shores

Much of Avalon Beach's housing land is within 1 km of breaking surf, and parts are within 100 m of Pittwater. Near the sea, render needs more upkeep: Rockcote's systems should be cleaned down every 12 months, and painted or textured coastal finishes more often. Unitex's stainless or Class 4 fixings rule for polystyrene boards applies across much of the suburb.

  • “Very professional and so helpful! Good communication and a fair price! Arrived nice and early! The rendering was done very well and looks great. The boys were very careful and made no mess! I have no hesitation in recommending Ali and his workers! I am definitely a very happy customer! Job: rear of house rendering plus a variety of rendering repairs in various places! Thank you so much!”
    ★★★★★Gregory Williams ·
  • “We loved dealing with Ali and his team. They are all lovely and really good renderers. We wanted something a little different (a thickly applied splattered style) in some parts of the house,”bagged” in other areas and smooth render in other parts…all was no problem, and expertly done. All fairly priced too. We would definitely recommend Finishing Touch Rendering. Stephanie and David.”
