Before you render in Paddington

What changes a rendering job here, each from the council plan, heritage register or data sheet it comes from.

  1. Council

    Two councils, two rule books

North of Oxford Street, Paddington is Woollahra Council's Paddington heritage conservation area. The southern part is City of Sydney land in the Paddington South, Paddington Urban and Victoria Barracks areas, under the Sydney DCP.

  2. Heritage

    Woollahra's terrace render rules

North of Oxford Street, unpainted original brick or stone must not be rendered, bagged or painted. Original render must not be removed unless the wall is re-rendered straight away, and where it has gone, new render must be applied and painted.

For your render: We check your address against these rules before quoting, so the render, finish and colour suit what the council allows there. Cement rendering

  3. Heritage

    Party walls and colour boards

Woollahra's Paddington chapter requires the whole face of a party wall to be one colour and matching terraces in a row to use consistent tones. A colour board goes to Council for any new scheme.

  4. Houses

Victorian terraces south of Oxford Street

The Paddington Urban listing describes mainly two to three storey Victorian terraces. Under the Sydney DCP, existing face brick there is not to be rendered or painted.

  • “Very professional and so helpful! Good communication and a fair price! Arrived nice and early! The rendering was done very well and looks great. The boys were very careful and made no mess! I have no hesitation in recommending Ali and his workers! I am definitely a very happy customer! Job: rear of house rendering plus a variety of rendering repairs in various places! Thank you so much!”
    ★★★★★Gregory Williams ·
  • “We loved dealing with Ali and his team. They are all lovely and really good renderers. We wanted something a little different (a thickly applied splattered style) in some parts of the house,”bagged” in other areas and smooth render in other parts…all was no problem, and expertly done. All fairly priced too. We would definitely recommend Finishing Touch Rendering. Stephanie and David.”
