Before you render in Kurraba Point

What changes a rendering job here, each from the council plan, heritage register or data sheet it comes from.

  1. Heritage

    Kurraba Point conservation area

Much of the suburb is in the Kurraba Point conservation area: Federation and Edwardian houses, some Victorian, plus 1930s flat buildings near the water. Its statement lists face and rendered brick on sandstone bases as typical and "rendered and painted face brickwork" as undesirable, so render is for walls that were rendered from the start.

For your render: We check your address against these rules before quoting, so the render, finish and colour suit what the council allows there. Cement rendering

  2. Heritage

Muted colours at the southern end

Below the conservation area, North Sydney's Kurraba Point South neighbourhood notes tall rendered masonry retaining walls along the high side of its streets, and asks development next to the foreshore to use muted colours and non-reflective materials.

  3. Heritage

    Listed buildings

Kurraba Point has many listed items, a number of them houses. North Sydney does not permit rendering face brick on a listed building unless it was rendered originally.

  4. Coast

Shell Cove and Neutral Bay upkeep

Facing Shell Cove and Neutral Bay, most blocks are within 100 m of harbour water. Render that close to the water needs washing more often: Rockcote asks for its systems to be washed down every 12 months, and painted or textured finishes near the coast more regularly. Polystyrene cladding there needs Class 4 or 316 stainless fixings under the Unitex manual.

  • “Very professional and so helpful! Good communication and a fair price! Arrived nice and early! The rendering was done very well and looks great. The boys were very careful and made no mess! I have no hesitation in recommending Ali and his workers! I am definitely a very happy customer! Job: rear of house rendering plus a variety of rendering repairs in various places! Thank you so much!”
    ★★★★★Gregory Williams ·
  • “We loved dealing with Ali and his team. They are all lovely and really good renderers. We wanted something a little different (a thickly applied splattered style) in some parts of the house,”bagged” in other areas and smooth render in other parts…all was no problem, and expertly done. All fairly priced too. We would definitely recommend Finishing Touch Rendering. Stephanie and David.”
