Bondi Beach conservation area
Part of Bondi Beach is in the Bondi Beach heritage area, which takes in the beach, Bondi Park and the Inter-War buildings along the beachfront. Its listing says historic face brick facades are to be kept without painting or rendering, and walls already painted should take a lighter main colour.

Rendered masonry on the beachfront
Waverley's Bondi Beachfront Area controls describe the beachfront as mostly rendered masonry with parapets and require new facades there to be predominantly rendered masonry. In parts of that area, existing face brick buildings are to stay unpainted and unrendered.

Coast
Salt air off the surf
Most of Bondi Beach's developed land is within 1 km of breaking surf, and render there needs more upkeep than inland: Rockcote asks for its systems to be washed down every 12 months, and for painted or textured finishes near the coast to be cleaned more often. For EPS cladding in that zone, Unitex requires Class 4 or grade 316 stainless steel fixing screws.
